Protein Production for NMR

The production of stable pure homogenous protein is essential for protein NMR spectroscopy. Isotopic labelling is necessary due to the size of proteins and the considerable overlap. Isotopic labelling is typically done with 15N and 13C but can also include 2H.

Protein production is generally done in bacterial expression systems (i.e. E. coli) for convenience and cost effectiveness.
